Since 1980, "The Mine", as the locals have affectionately renamed it, has served the area with great food and drink in a truly unique dining atmosphere.
However, the story on 39th and stewart does not begin here. Back around 1910, the White Eagle Club was built on the gravel road leading west out of Wausau. This early roadhouse served fried chicken and other home cooked meals to hungry and thirsty travelers and locals alike. If you listen real hard, you may catch the whispers of ginseng farmers sharing secrets or loggers boasting of their days take.

Legend also has it that the ghost of a German Immigrant named Brandenburg, who was allegedly murdered in one of the booths still inhabits the grounds.
If "Virgil" our resident miner with a weakness for the booze spots you, the topic of conversation will be mining. From the authentic mining artifacts to the working replica of a copper mine, and the multitude of pictures depicting miners performing their daily tasks, the walls tell a thousand stories.
